The sole mission of Beacon Health Foundation is to generate philanthropic support to ensure that Beacon Health System is positioned to meet the future health care needs of our community.

Philanthropy enhances existing programs and creates new programs and services that would not otherwise exist because of financial constraints. Financial contributions help provide the resources necessary to maintain the highest level of excellence and patient support in our medical programs and services. Your individual acts of generosity help improve the quality of life for people in our region today and into the future. Philanthropic gifts have always been important to the Community Hospital Bremen, Elkhart General Hospital, and Memorial Hospital.  These hospitals were established and sustained by gracious donors who significantly contributed to their growth and success.

Beacon Health Foundation is important because it supports the work of Beacon Health System by providing programs and services that are not covered by revenues from patients and insurance companies. Although Beacon Health is a large system, it does not have unlimited resources. By working with donors, the Foundation enhances the services Beacon Health provides. Areas supported by the Foundation include nursing education, community health initiatives, Beacon Children’s Hospital, and equipment/facilities upgrades.

All donated funds are used exclusively for programs that have a direct, positive impact on the health and well-being of our community including advanced technology and facilities, staff and medical innovations. Each gift received – regardless of purpose or amount – is carefully processed to ensure that the donor(s)’s wishes are honored and that Beacon receives the maximum benefit.

Yes, donors at any level may designate to specific hospital, program area or initiative that best matches their area of interest. You can also make an unrestricted gift, which allows the Foundation to apply your funding to the areas of most critical need.

Beacon Health Foundation is not a grant-making foundation. We are chartered to raise funds specifically to support the programs and initiatives of Beacon.

Beacon returns a portion of its operating revenues to the community either by making grants through Community Impact or through specific sponsorships/charitable donations per approved guidelines. Those grants are funded by Beacon, not by Beacon Health Foundation.

However, the Foundation does support some of the Community Impact programs and initiatives. More specifically, we support programs and initiatives that exclusively benefit activities led and managed by Beacon, e.g., Beacon’s B.A.B.E. Store, continuing education for associates, resources required to implement programming within the community, etc.

Personal and financial information pertaining to our contributors is not disclosed by the Beacon Health Foundation except as may be required by law.

Planned or estate gifts enable you to make a meaningful gift to Beacon. Learn more about creating your legacy.

Certain non-monetary donations can be accepted by the Child Life Department at Beacon Children’s Hospital, however, strict guidelines are in place to ensure patient safety. (For example, no cards or used toys can be accepted due to infection control policies.) You can reach our Child Life team by emailing ChildLife@beaconhealthsystem.org.

Beacon Health Foundation focuses on monetary donations, which are the most efficient way to take care of the most urgent needs of our patients. If you want to make a gift directly to Beacon Children’s Child Life and Creative Services team, please contact Beacon Health Foundation at 574-647-6613 or Donate Now. Thank you for your generosity!

Yes!  You may designate your gift to be used by any hospital, department or program of your choosing. Beacon Health Foundation supports many initiatives that require ongoing support. Undesignated gifts are equally as important, however, because they go to the area of greatest need as determined by Foundation and system leadership.
