A vital public health resource belongs to everyone

Private funding raises the standard of care

In Indiana, local communities bear the responsibility to fund their trauma units. That’s why we must appeal to you to support our regional trauma care services for everyone in our community.

The demand for trauma care in our community has been rising steadily for more than five years. We have the only trauma units in our region to meet this need, touching as many lives as level I trauma centers at the Mayo Clinic, Loyola Medicine in Chicago and IU Health in Indianapolis.

We plan to meet this demand by expanding our facilities and investing in people. Our plan for providing outstanding trauma care addresses issues of space, equipment, strategy and personnel. Here’s what we plan to do:

* Expand the Level II Trauma Center at Memorial Hospital and trauma-related clinical areas.

* Expand training and emergency care services to ensure our first responders are equipped. We’ll also make annual investments in the education and training of our region’s emergency medical personnel.

* Commit to trauma access for our region with ongoing investment in Beacon’s Med-Flight Program.

* Develop a regional trauma care approach by establishing a regional trauma directorship.

* Obtain Level IV trauma verification at Three Rivers Hospital.

These improvements will also help us attract and retain the best trauma surgeons, nurses and other clinicians.
